May reveal breast cancer??
Hello, I was wondering Can a blood test for celiac patients to disclose any type of cancer? (especially breast cancer) Please help!
No, not for a couple of reasons. Some types of cancer have shown tumor markers ant in the blood that are different for each cancer, but many types of cancer tumor markers are not at all. None of them are sensitive enough to diagnose cancer unless there is well advanced and it is not uncommon for a person with cancer to have a normal tumor marker. another reason is when the doctor writes the order for the laboratory that he or she specifically states what they do. So unless the state to see if there is a specific marker, never will be. For example can detect alcohol in the blood, but will not be detected, even if he had couple of drinks unless the doctor asked them to look.
