Concerned about breast cancer!?
Heres the gist of it my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago. His was a vigorous rate cancer. Fortunately it was to regulate and mamograms caught it early remmition She has been in the past 2 years and is happy and healthy. My aunt (the older sister of my mom) was diagnosed shortly after and has been in remmition 1 1 / 2 years. My mother did a genetic test to see if there was in my family for the concern of my daughter and I told him that doctors have not yet. So my question is if I have a greater risk for cancer because I'm in a line direct blood?? Please help Im scared. PS .. I'm 25 and I was wondering what age women often discover they have breast cancer .. Is there a set age?
If your mother has been tested and doctors say she has the defective gene and then breast cancer is not genetic and is not at greater risk. Approximately one in nine women will have breast cancer at some stage, and age is the biggest risk factor (80% of breast cancers occur in women over 50), it seems that her mother and aunt were cancers of chance, as most cases are. Only 5 to 10% of cases of breast cancer are due to hereditary factors. You are wise to be breast aware however .. Someone here said that breast cancer is due to lifestyle – is not. It's just that much easier and less frightening for those people to believe that other people cancer can be blamed on diet, stress, whatever, to accept that is a random disease that can strike any of us any time.
