Breast Cancer Hereditary Risk
Link between breast cancer and ovarian cancer?
Most information about ovarian cancer, says women who have had cancer breast cancer have twice the risk of developing ovarian cancer compared with women. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer can sometimes be due to the same defective genes. So all women who have had breast cancer have an increased risk of ovarian cancer, or is only 5 to 10% whose cancer Breast cancer is / was hereditary because one of the BRCA genes?
Here, you can not lift any scientific citations to support, but my oncologist referred me a "slightly increased" risk of ovarian cancer and colon cancer (as well as a new primary breast cancer) and breast cancer survivor. Maybe his "slightly higher" is a description of absolute risk, against "double jeopardy" which has seen a relative risk. I do not have the gene, so follows that means there is a statistical relationship to any breast cancer survivor, not only BRCA-positive survivors.
