Christina Applegate never runs out of surprises. As an accessory of the comedy series "Samantha Who?" not surprising to see her birth to her right to act cartoons on the block. Recently, however, gave birth to an act that caught everyone in shock – they had removed from her breasts.

Good Morning America reported that Christina Applegate, 36, decided on double mastectomy to make sure it will not be bothered by breast cancer again in her life. Although doctors are not totally eliminate the possibility of a recurrence, prophylactic mastectomy reduces the risk by 95%.

How far will ensure their own survival?

Oncologists described the decision of Ms. Applegate as "a brave act," while most women his age and stature may have opted for another form of chemotherapy and radiation. Cristina did not have much of an option, genetic testing was performed in it, when she had a lumpectomy, showed a grim picture – BRCA1 positive.

The presence of the BRCA1 genetic mutation, indicating that a patient is more likely to develop cancer in their lifetime, or have a recurrence, even if the first efforts to stop the cancer been successful. Apparently, Ms. Applegate does not want to put a comic act when her life is put on the line. A difficult decision must have been for her, but she decided to follow the path the unbeaten in most of the celebrities.

But she only had cancer in one breast – Is she over-react to treatment?

Unfortunately for Cristina, the presence of the BRCA1 gene runs in her family and her mother was also stricken by cancer. Maybe the story of the family about the decision to Cristina to think twice about a double mastectomy.

Not everyone would have the courage to take this decision in such a short period of time as Christina did, but one thing is certain, there is more to life than worrying about a pair of breasts. When forced to choose between keeping or losing their lives, most likely – Albeit reluctantly – Placement of a heroic act, like Christina.
