For women who have had breast cancer or husbands and friends who are with someone who has it.?

I was recently diagnosed with cancer breast and undergo a mastectomy. Today I went to the doctor and showed him photographs of women who have had the procedure done and I really felt horrible to see the end result of what appears to breast reconstruction after surgery. My question is, how it feels to meet someone new and be comfortable with my body when I have the breast that is totally rebuilt and none of this really mine? I'll have scars on my chest and not the nipple for a while. A man will see me as being attractive after the fact? This is serious, so serious replies only.

I can not tell you how it feels. I know it's hard to lose a part of your body that many makes you look like a woman. My mother just had a bi-lateral (both) with a mastectomy tram (reconstruction) in August. My suggestion to you is find a group of support for breast cancer in your area. My mother has learned a lot and had lots of support and resources of their group. They are a great way to find out what doctors are very good and which to avoid. Find a plastic surgeon's work to find the best. Not only settle the first to see if their results do not like or think you may find someone better. Best of luck, be strong do well.
